CISSI
In 2023, we set out to build on our existing sustainability efforts by developing a new kind of collection.
After researching materials and discussing ideas with customers, it was during a meeting with Puustelli that a shared interest in sustainability became clear. Puustelli had spent years researching composites and had begun using a blend of polypropylene and wood cellulose — a proven, sustainable option. As we at Metakor were new to working with such materials, we welcomed the idea of creating a handle from the same innovative composite.
To reflect the collaboration, we felt it was important that the design also have a Finnish origin. We approached Tuominen Patel, who created a refined and elegant proposal — now known as Cissi.
Production of Cissi is located in Finland and powered by green energy. Every step — from material sourcing to production and packaging — has been carefully considered with sustainability in mind.
Not only did we create a handle designed to last a lifetime (or two), but we also integrated 30% recycled Miinus frames to highlight the potential of this material. In addition, the collection is 100% recyclable, making it a fully circular design choice.
The result is a beautiful, soft, and warm handle available in two contemporary finishes: Coffee Brown and Graphite. It’s designed to fit seamlessly into any kitchen, bathroom, or piece of furniture.
And there’s more: the handle is significantly lighter than traditional metal versions, reducing CO₂ emissions during transport — while also storing carbon within the material itself.
